Vera Yayra Hayibor, a loyalist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is among the six aspirants vying for the NDC Parliamentary candidacy in Hohoe. Her motivation to lead the party in the area is mainly to increase female representation in Parliament and effect social democracy to transform the narrative in the constituency. She believes that adding more women to Parliament’s quality will go a long way in advancing Ghana’s democracy.

For the most part, female representation in Parliament is minimal on both the Majority and Minority sides. Hence, Vera’s aspiration to lead the NDC in Hohoe would be a step in the right direction towards creating gender balance and amplifying the voices of the marginalized in the area.

Vera’s candidacy isn’t just about increasing female representation in Parliament; it’s also about uplifting the people of Hohoe. As a young and inspiring agent of change, Vera has established several livelihood empowerment programs to improve the economic situation of the constituency. These programs include skills training in powdered and liquid soap, antiseptic, and other economic activities. Over 150 people from Hohoe and Axor (Wli, Fodome, Dzogbega & Gbledi ) communities have benefitted from these training programs.

In addition, Vera’s intervention in the agricultural sector of the constituency is commendable. She believes that agriculture holds the key to the area’s economic prosperity. Hence, she has trained about 150 people on how to produce weedicides, mushrooms, and snail farming to provide multiple streams of income for the people.

Apart from Vera’s apprenticeship program aimed at equipping constituents with sustainable jobs, she has donated plastic chairs to the NDC Party’s office in Tsevi to support the party’s operations. This move demonstrates her commitment to the party’s success in the constituency and Ghana as a whole.

In a nutshell, Vera Yayra Hayibor is an embodiment of hope and change for Hohoe’s development. She has the vision, the passion, and the experience to lead the NDC to victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections. She appeals to the delegates to entrust her with the mantle to lead and serve her people.
